Uplifting Yourself in Hard Times

How do you uplift yourself during a hard time? How do you respond in moments of defeat?
Take a moment to notice your default reactions. Our responses don’t define our worth, but they do shape our character. As you learn to navigate hard seasons with intention, you grow happier, stronger, and more grounded.
1) Prayer
Make space to deepen your relationship with God. Ask Him to uplift you and guide you through the struggle. When you confide in Him, you’re building trust and strengthening your faith. Say a simple prayer and see where He leads.
2) Learn from Difficult Times
Give yourself time to feel what you feel—then reflect. What happened? What was in your control? What could you do differently next time? I like to pick things apart and journal through them; I almost always come away with clarity and a next step to grow.
3) Focus on What You Can Control (Not What You Can’t)
Some things are simply beyond our control. Accepting that reality prevents frustration. Put your energy into what you can influence—your attitude, your habits, your boundaries, your next right step. That’s where real change happens.
4) Create Your Community
Who you’re around matters. Surround yourself with people who are loving, honest, and supportive. Reach out for prayer, join a small group, or text a friend who lifts you up. You become like the people you spend time with.
“Every test, every trial, every heartache that’s been significant, I can turn it over and see how God has turned it into good no matter what.”— Charles Stanley
Try this today: Pray a short prayer, journal for ten minutes about what you can control, and send one text to someone who supports you. Small steps create big momentum.
