For this months workshop, The Women's Confidence Movement discussed about learning from your failures.
What is failure?
We all experience failure, it’s up to you if you want to learn from it to be more successful in your future. It’s natural to avoid things that could end up in failure. Failure can be embarrassing, painful and a emotional experience.
What is the true definition of failure?
Failure is the lack of success to meet your own expectations.
Take a moment and think about how your failures can be useful:
It can offer great insight
Help us change direction
Can offer proof of something that didn’t work
The hardest thing to do is to admit you have failed. If we don’t learn from our mistakes we will keep repeating them.
Remember, failure is in the eyes of the beholder.
Four Ways to Manage Failure
Accepting Your Emotions
Failure can hurt and that is okay. Learning to accept it is the first step towards your growth. Trying to distract yourself or minimize your feelings can have an effect on yourself in the long run. Being able to recognize your feelings and allow yourself time to process it, is okay.
Remember, do not dwell on it for too long, especially if you are blaming yourself.
Don’t Make it To Personal Don’t make it personal because we become our worst critic. We tend to see ourselves as a failure, rather than a experience to help us grow.
Don’t Worry About What Others Think
You cannot control what others think nor do something about it. It’s easier to accept your failures when you define them on your own terms. Only focus on the things you want to do and not other people.
Use Failure as a Way to Improve
Don’t think failure as a failure but more as an improvement for your growth. It’s a lesson learned to help improve yourself towards your future.
